Our Story

Our StoryNext Play was born from a passion for creating meaningful connections through Aboriginal culture, art and storytelling. Founded by Noongar-Yamatji man Jermaine Miller-Lewis, Next Play brings together lived experience, creativity and culture to inspire confidence, strengthen identity and encourage a sense of belonging.Growing up, Jermaine experienced firsthand the power of culture, community and positive role models.

His journey has taken him from performing traditional Aboriginal dance and playing professional AFL football to becoming a contemporary Aboriginal artist and cultural educator. Along the way, he discovered that art and storytelling are powerful ways to bring people together, start important conversations and create lasting impact.

Today, Next Play delivers culturally grounded experiences for schools, community organisations, sporting clubs and workplaces across Western Australia. Through interactive workshops, collaborative artwork and authentic storytelling, participants are encouraged to learn, reflect, create and connect in a safe, inclusive and engaging environment. At its heart, Next Play is about creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to build confidence, celebrate culture and take their next step with purpose.

Our Vision:

Our vision is to create a future where Aboriginal culture is celebrated, respected and shared through meaningful experiences that bring people together. We aspire to inspire confidence, strengthen identity and foster a sense of belonging by connecting individuals, schools, organisations and communities through culture, creativity and storytelling.

Through every workshop, artwork and conversation, Next Play aims to empower people of all ages to embrace diversity, build genuine connections and recognise the value of Aboriginal knowledge, history and culture. We believe that when people learn, create and connect together, they are better equipped to make a positive impact within their own communities.
